About the challenge

Hack Brooklyn is Brooklyn College's premier hackathon with the aim to empower students in technology. Join us for 48 hours to build in person during the day, remote at night.

Compete in teams of up to 4 to create a working prototype based on themed tracks. Win prizes, attend workshops, network with fellow students, and meet industry professionals!

Submissions to DevPost must be made BY 10:00 AM EST Sunday, April 19th 2026.

  • Teams submit their hack to only 1-2 of the following general tracks:

    • Finance 

    • Education

    • Entertainment

    • Healthcare

Teams may also submit to as many auxiliary and sponsor tracks as they would like.

    NoteIt is not necessary to submit a completely functional project. We understand that time constraints make this difficult, and we highly encourage all submissions! Please refer to the scoring guide to see that there are other factors considered besides working code.

Judging Criteria

  • Concept (30%)
    The project tackles a problem that has been overlooked/ignored in the past, or attacks a problem with a new angle/on a higher level.
  • Functionality (30%)
    The product executes the function the team’s concept describes. Does the project work as intended? How well does the demo run? Lastly, how scalable is this product?
  • Wow Factor (20%)
  • User Experience and Design (10%)
    Is the visual aspect of the project appealing/compelling? Think about ease of use, accessibility, and creativity in their design.
  • Value to Community (10%)
    The project provides benefits to the end user and has a positive impact on the community it addresses. It is also relevant to the track chosen.
